Selena's shooting death sparked emotions in the Latino community that is likened with Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena was a wildly popular singer among Latinos in North America. But her music was a hit with both the young and the old. Selena was a hot and flamboyant stage performer and was often referred to by the Latina Madonna. Off-stage Selena was an excellent role model since she participated actively in antidrug and AIDS campaigns.
